Our History

Every company has a human story behind it and Pat Taylor Garden Services Ltd is no different. Born in 1941, during the early years of WW2, Pat was one of 8 children and grew up in Ware. Life wasn’t always easy but he and his siblings looked out for one another. Fast-forward to 1959, Pat met Liz in Ware High Street and within 2 years, they were married. If there was one thing Pat loved doing, it was driving lorries and he spent nearly 30 years working on skips.

Following redundancy, Pat didn’t sit on his laurels and used his redundancy money to invest in his own Ford Cargo and set up a business for himself. His reputation grew and in 1996, his son-in-law Paul Smith joined the company which ushered in a new era of growth and expansion. New equipment was purchased, including grab lorries and diggers. This was followed by Pat’s grandsons Scott and Mitchell coming on board to help manage the full range of services they now offer.

It’s been quite a journey but Pat and his team still take pride in the level of personal service and value for money the business represents. It is these values that make the company so well respected in the region and will take the company into the future.
